A Provocation
Updated: Oct 31, 2019
Because we are too indifferent towards the art we make
Because we are not angry enough
Because we are not joyous enough
Because we have lost the sacred
Because we have no more mystery
Because so much theatre is clean and sterile
Because we are not burning when we are creating
Because many of us are not creating
Because too many of us have forgotten how to create or that an artist should create
Because ‘the industry’ is suffocating creativity
Because the resources are in the hands of a few
Because too many of us ultimately accept the rules
Because we are afraid of tearing them down
Because we think the arts need the industry to survive
Because if all the theatres and opera houses and galleries were to burn down tomorrow, what would you do?
